Crushlink clones. [Feb. 12th, 2003|07:28 pm]

I hate these services. This is why:

SomeoneLikesYou uses personally identifiable user information for the purposes of the SomeoneLikesYou website and the SomeoneLikesYou matching system. For example, we use email addresses of users, and of those persons provided on their secret lists, to send notification of potential matches and to provide hints about the identity of their Interests, and to contact users in cases of a successful match. We also use email addresses to send useful information to all users regarding the SomeoneLikesYou website. We may sell or market the email addresses of registered users only to third parties. We will not, however, sell or market any personal information of any unregistered user to any third party.

So dirty. And someone sent them my @thechaz.net address, which right now is my email account that isn't loaded down with spam. >.< Bah.

I don't even think anyone has a crush on me, either. I think that they found random email addresses and sent these automated emails out to seed their system with initial users who'll go out and opt in all their friends. Either that, or someone got one of these and tried out their entire address book because they had no idea who added them.

OMGs I hate those sort of sites...

Among other things, because you have to guess whoall supposedly has a crush on you, and quite frankly there is no such guarantee the person likes you, and wasn't just someone guessing everyone they know, because they received one.

However, I got a crushlink email a while back, turns out just about everyone in a particular mailing list got one. *places a questionmark over her head* I stopped guessing at about the point where I decided I didn't want this email plague to be propagated on my behalf. I sent out emails to the people I did check, letting them know it was me, trying to figure out what the heck was going on, and explained the scammy nature of the site. And that they should under no circumstances register.

I hate them. Violently.

Yes.

I really am starting to believe that Crushlink and it's clones are seeded by random addresses, because I have yet to find someone that didn't loath either service.

I think this is the third or fourth post I've dedicated to bitching about these services, yet it seems to never get old. :)
