|an unexpected conversation.

Weirdest thing happened on the way to my parent's house last night. I was on the Broad Street Line at Olney station, and this kid sits next to me, and starts talking to me. Apparantly, this guy recognised me throught the window before the subway pulled up. After a few minutes of conversation, his face was vaguely familiar. He was one of the hundreds of people from Upper Darby who I never talked to but saw in the halls regularly. What made this weird is that he remembered my first and last name and the town I lived in. Wow. His name is Joe.. something. I'm horrible with names. Ack. Before Frank Kelly's accident, he was one of his best friends.
So, what has Joe been up to? Well, for starters, he has a 9 month old son. He seemed very happy about it. Very proud. One of the first things he said was, "Hey, I have a kid. You want to see a pictures? I have a million of him in my wallet." Apparantly, even though it makes life harder for him, having a kid was really good for him. He said it basically turned his life around. Go him.
He works about 40 hours a week at some Nutrition-selling place as a manager. He's only been working there for a few months. He still lives in Upper Darby with his girl and a few friends, but to get to work, he takes the Market-Frankfurd to City Hall, the Broad Street Line from City Hall to Olney, and then two bus routes after that. That commute is crazy ridiculous.
He still wants to go to college. For art or somesuch. Best of luck with that. It's not going to be easy with his current obligations and whatnot.
I don't know. I'm amazed how I had a conversation for an hour or two with a guy I never talked to before like we were best friends from back in the day, and equally impressed by how it seems like some pretty weird throws have come his way, yet he's managed and seems happier than ever.
PS: Beware of the Fruit Fucker 2000!
