My entry got eaten by a power failure.

Here's a synopsis.

I don't understand why the Perl module XML::Parser works the way it does. I wrote a long thing why it confuses me. It produces this really strange structure by default, which I completely don't understand. The Objects and/or Tree modes should have behaviour similar to XML::Simple. I wrote very good reasons why I thought XML::Parser acts weird, but they all were lost.

Speaking of XML, now for a little bit about RSS. I've been reading Dive Into Mark for a few months now, and that lead me this week to Sam Ruby's Weblog and Dave Winer's Scripting News. I may be walking in on the middle of a conversation here, but the whole Echo vs RSS thing seems silly. Everyone's biggest gripe seems to be that RSS 2.0's spec is vague at parts. Wouldn't it make more sense to talk to Dave Winer and have him make things more concrete than to write your own system? If he is unwilling to make changes, perhaps the correct solution would be for someone to make a fork with version 3.0. Wasn't that how version 1.0 came to be?

Our power went out 4 times today. I've had to reset my computer clock 5 times today. Gr.

I feel like I could've written much more on both of those topics. Sadly, they were rushed and now I have to go to sleep.
