life updates.

I've been boring.

instantdharma has been in Aruba Antigua for the past week. It doesn't sound like she had a great time. :( What's lamer is that I probably won't be able to see her for another week for a significant amount of time because we're entering tech for 42nd Street.

I took a break from the new tschedule I started because I was starting to get sick of it. I started up again today and made a ton of fun progress. I don't feel confident enough in my JavaScript-foo to do crazy Ajax stuff yet, but it's nice to know RubyOnRails provides with scaffolding some JavaScript libraries to make cross-browser stuff easy. Client's emailing me again, which makes me sad because I don't know what to tell him. There are a million good reasons why this project isn't done yet, but they all sound like mistakes in my ears, and I can't help but dwell on how if I was more assertive on some decisions, this would be complete by now!

OneActs have been interesting. It turns out I'm playing Lenny in Of Mice And Men, so I'm trying to find motivation for all of the voices in my head. (No wink there. That was an actual criticism I received!) The other scene is interesting to do because it's hard because it's from a very serious movie. We're taking it out of the context of the movie entirely and playing it as a comedy. I had seen the movie for the first time a few days before the audition, not knowing that was going to be one of the pieces, so needless to say I've been very self-conscious about playing it like the movie. To stop people from having false pretenses about how the scene should be played, we're renaming the scene "Nice". It's taking me longer than it ought to get off book for these scenes, which makes me frustrated and sad, but with my currently vacant schedule, I'm happy to have commitments besides mainstage every day!

I read the latest Harry Potter book last week. For the past few months, I've been getting too wrapped up in particular books and movies. Creativity is damaging!

OK, I think I covered all of the "life updates" stuff.. it's a week before the show, so it's time for Journal Whorage, partially stolen from runnerdna runnernda:
Come see 42nd Street at Upper Darby Performing Arts Center on July 29th and 30th and August 5th and 6th at 8:00 PM. Those are Fridays and Saturdays, the first being this week! My first role in a mainstage show! The Box Office opens at 7:00, and the doors open at 7:30. To reserve your tickets ahead of time, let me know or call the Box Office at (610)622-1189 (open Monday-Friday, 9:00-4:00).

Come see One-Acts at Upper Darby Performing Arts Center on Tuesday August 2nd and Wednesday August 3rd at 7:30. Tickets are available at the door. I'm acting in two. You won't regret it!

So, you have 6 opportunities to see me in a 9 day span. If you stumble in to the UDPAC on one random evening, you have a 67% chance of seeing me in something. That's like shooting ducks in a barrel! (If you're into that sort of thing...) If you don't make a single one of those, you're not even trying! :P
