This morning when walking by the computer room, I thought I heard raining. However, when I looked outside the sky was clear. As it turns out, one of the machine that ensures that the entire building gets hot water from the hot water heater blew up. The pressure valve was gushing out water at an alarming rate. To make matters worse, the hot water heater kept on refilling itself, so we weren't dealing with a finite amount of water which could run out.
The computer room is soaked. This is only partially due to water overflowing out of the water heater closet and into the room. The water was so hot that it generated an incredible amount of humidity which condensented on the walls, ceilings, and whatever else was in the room. Unfortunately, this includes Amanda's computer and my flat screen monitor. (Fortunately, I moved my tower and Amanda moved her monitor out of the room last week, so they were not affected.)
Fortunately, maintenance people did come out this time. Unfortunately, we have yet to get in touch with our lovely landlord. It looks like they will be able to get most of the water out and will be able to replace the broken machinery, but the carpets in that room will have to be replaced before it is in usable condition! Needless to say, the housing authority and the licensing department will be hearing from us.
